I have partnered with NSBP to offer Adult Mental Health First Aid courses to NSBP Members and Non-Members. Cross-posting from NSBP website (https://nsbp.org/page/mhfat): In response to our nation’s mental health crisis, the National Society of Black Physicists (NSBP) will host monthly virtual instructor-led Mental Health First Aid training. This groundbreaking skills-based course will enable registrants with the skills and tools to identify, understand, and respond to an individual who might be struggling with a mental health or substance use challenge — and connect them with the appropriate support and necessary resources. This course will cover topics on depression and mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, psychosis, substance use disorder, and more.
Participants will learn how to:
Interact with someone in a crisis
Recognize the risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction
How to connect someone in crisis with help
